OK 53.16 Spezial is a basic, double-coated electrode for both alternating and direct current, specially adapted for vertical rising fillet welds with small a-dimensions. It is considered a basic electrode in terms of mechanical properties, but compared to other basic electrodes it welds with a quiet and stable arc, which gives much less spatter and loose strokes. The electrode gives a smooth and fine weld in all positions except vertically falling. OK 53.16 Spezial is recommended for unalloyed and microalloyed carbon-manganese steel, and for prescribed ship steel of A-D and E quality. OK 53.16 Spezial is specially developed for welding with power sources with low open circuit voltage (OCV).
